The Dark Night of the Soul: Embracing the Shadow for Spiritual Transformation
The spiritual journey isn’t always an easy one, and it's important to acknowledge the challenges and painful moments that come with it. Many people go through what is known as the Dark Night of the Soul. It’s a period of intense emotional and spiritual struggle, where you feel lost, disconnected, or overwhelmed by the weight of your own healing. The Dark Night of the Soul can be triggered by life events, inner conflicts, or a deep desire for change, but whatever the cause, it's a necessary part of your evolution. Trust me, I’ve been through hell and back.
The purpose of this experience is not to break you, but to strip away the old layers that no longer serve you. It's about facing your deepest fears, wounds, and unresolved emotions so you can heal and emerge stronger, wiser, and more aligned with your true self. This process leads to inner freedom and peace because, through the darkness, you will discover your light. The Dark Night of the Soul invites you to transform pain into growth, to embrace what you have repressed, and to rebuild your life with greater authenticity.
If you're going through this phase, know that it’s not permanent. The darkness is simply part of the cycle of life—just as the seasons change, so too will this phase in your spiritual journey. It’s an invitation to surrender, to trust, and to call upon your guides, ancestors, and angels for support. I sit in gratitude and call upon my spirit guides, angels from the highest realms, and ancestors to surround and protect me during this sacred time. I ask for your guidance, blessings, and the creation of a safe space for healing. May all energies be aligned with the highest good, and any negativity be transformed into light. I am open to healing and transformation, knowing I am fully supported and protected. And so it is.
Healing Meditation
Take a deep breath in, filling your lungs with calm, and exhale any tension or worries. As you breathe, imagine a soft light surrounding you, creating a protective bubble that shields you from negativity.
If you have sage or palo santo, light it now and gently wave the smoke around you, allowing the smoke to cleanse your energy field. Feel the negative energies being drawn out and replaced with healing light. With each breath, allow yourself to become lighter, clearer, and more centered.
Hold an object in your hands—whether it be a crystal, a talisman, or anything that brings you comfort and a sense of safety. Feel its energy connecting with yours, grounding you in the present moment. With each touch, know that you are supported, protected, and loved.
Allow yourself to feel all of your emotions. It’s time to stop numbing yourself. Whether through distractions or suppressing feelings, acknowledge what’s within you. If you’re considering getting off medications and are feeling numb, please reach out to a doctor for guidance. Sometimes, the only way to truly heal is to let the emotions flow—sometimes you just need a good, loud cry. Remember, it’s okay to release.
Unfortunately, you have to sit in your turmoil in order to heal, you need to FEEL and breathe through them. Feel them rise and fall, just like the tide. They’re all part of your healing process. Allow yourself to release what no longer serves you and invite in peace, light, and healing.
