Beyond the Seven: Exploring the Additional Chakras and Their Spiritual Significance

Beyond the main seven chakras, there are additional chakras that are less commonly discussed but are just as powerful. In total, there are believed to be 12 primary chakras, though some systems recognize even more. Here’s a breakdown of the chakras beyond the main 7:

Main 7 Chakras (Recap)

  1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) - Base of the spine; grounding, survival.

  2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) - Below the navel; creativity, pleasure.

  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - Upper abdomen; confidence, willpower.

  4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) - Center of the chest; love, compassion.

  5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) - Throat; communication, expression.

  6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) - Between the eyebrows; intuition, insight.

  7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) - Top of the head; spiritual connection, enlightenment.

Additional Chakras Beyond the Main 7

  1. Soul Star Chakra (8th Chakra)

    • Located about 6-12 inches above the crown chakra.

    • Often referred to as the “Seat of the Soul,” this chakra connects you to your higher self and the Akashic Records (your soul’s journey and wisdom).

  2. Earth Star Chakra (Below the Root Chakra)

    • Located about 12 inches below your feet, within the Earth.

    • This chakra grounds you deeply into the Earth’s energy, anchoring your spiritual body to your physical body.

  3. Causal Chakra

    • Located just behind the head, slightly above the crown chakra.

    • This chakra is connected to the Moon’s energy and is believed to support higher intuition, dreams, and accessing past lives.

  4. Stellar Gateway Chakra

    • Located above the Soul Star Chakra, this chakra is considered the doorway to the universe.

    • It’s associated with cosmic consciousness and access to higher dimensions and light codes.

  5. Universal/Divine Gateway Chakra

    • The highest chakra, positioned even further above the Stellar Gateway.

    • It connects you to universal consciousness, oneness, and your divine purpose.

Minor Chakras and Energy Points

There are also several smaller chakras located throughout the body, including the hands, feet, and other joints. These minor chakras are involved in healing work, such as Reiki and energy medicine. For example:

  • Hand Chakras: Important for energy healing and giving/receiving energy.

  • Foot Chakras: Help with grounding and connecting to the Earth’s energies.

Exploring these additional chakras can deepen your spiritual practices and enhance your energy work, helping you connect with higher dimensions and access more expansive levels of consciousness.

The minor chakras and energy points are often used in Reiki and other energy healing practices. While the main 7 chakras are the primary focus, the minor chakras—like those in the hands, feet, knees, and other joints—are also important for channeling and balancing energy.

How Minor Chakras Are Used in Reiki:

  1. Hand Chakras: These are especially crucial in Reiki. The palms contain powerful energy centers that practitioners use to channel healing energy to others or themselves. During a Reiki session, the practitioner’s hands become the main tools for transmitting energy to various parts of the body.

  2. Foot Chakras: These help with grounding the energy and connecting the recipient to the Earth. Grounding is an essential part of energy work because it stabilizes the flow of energy and prevents feelings of imbalance or “spaciness” after a session.

  3. Knee and Elbow Chakras: Though less commonly discussed, these points can store tension and blockages. Reiki practitioners may focus on these areas to ensure the smooth flow of energy throughout the body.

These minor chakras and energy points contribute to a more comprehensive healing process, allowing Reiki to address specific issues like grounding, energy blockages, and overall flow within the energy system.
